Artistic Associates Assemble!
As Season 4 approaches, we are quickly realizing that this year for BNT will be all about doubling down and taking risks. In preparation for this, we’re happy to announce that we’re expanding our team with the first wave of Artistic Associates: performers and theatre techies who we’ve worked with in the past, and whose individual talents and expertise will be invaluable as we move into the 2015-16 theatrical season.
Samuel Brownson is one half of the runaway hit folk duo Sedgewick and has collaborated with BNT on two separate occasions: as lead guitar in the four-piece band for Rooms: a Rock Romance, and as composer/lyricist for the songs featured in Stilwater, a new play that received a staged reading with us earlier this year (where he performed the songs with now-fellow associate Kuruvilla).
Teresa Kuruvilla is a performer, graphic artist, and comedienne who has previously appeared in the first edition of Bechdel Fest and the twice-extended late night remount of My First Time, for which she also designed the poster, postcards, and other marketing materials. She is also an artistic associate with Voice of the City, and she has served as a teaching artist at various youth outreach programs across Chicago.
Aria Szalai-Raymond is a recent high school graduate, currently preparing to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago. In the past, she’s worked with BNT in Bechdel Fest and two separate development readings of Stilwater (at BNT and Chicago Dramatists). Other notable credits include Sirens (USA) and being current member of the A Red Orchid Youth Ensemble.
Caitlin Boylan is the stage manager for the rising star sketch group Damn, Gina!, and has previously worked with our company as Production Manager for From White Plains and Stage Manager for Bechdel Fest 2.
These four join Leslie Ruettiger and Ivy Reid as the first wave of artists to join us on the associate level, and we cannot wait to find future opportunities for them to showcase their talents both onstage and backstage.
